I’m a marketing consultant specialising in campaigns, communications and audience engagement for charities, community organisations and purpose-led projects. I help organisations communicate clearly, connect with the right people and create work that feels meaningful, accessible and engaging.


With a background in Marine & Environmental Biology and more than 25 years’ marketing experience, I’m particularly interested in projects that connect people with the natural world, support environmental education, strengthen communities and create positive social impact.

CPRE Norfolk – Youth Engagement & Schools Awards Campaign

Engaging schools across Norfolk in environmental action through a flexible campaign

Client / Sector: CPRE Norfolk / Environment & Charity

Summary
Developed a county-wide campaign to engage schools in environmental initiatives, enabling them to showcase existing work or take part in new projects supported by CPRE Norfolk.

Challenge
Encourage participation from schools without adding to teacher workload, while making the campaign relevant, flexible, and easy to engage with across a wide range of schools.

My Approach
Designed a low-friction campaign that made it simple for schools to take part, regardless of their starting point.

  • Created two entry routes: showcase existing work or take part in a guided initiative 
  • Aligned messaging with curriculum links and Ofsted priorities to increase relevance 
  • Focused on recognition and celebration to motivate participation 
  • Structured communications to support schools from initial interest through to submission 

What I Delivered

  • Campaign concept and structure 
  • Messaging and positioning 
  • Teacher resource pack (including project ideas and curriculum links) 
  • Outreach approach via schools networks and email communications 
  • Supporting materials including posters and guidance 

Outcome / Impact

  • Established a clear and scalable framework for school engagement 
  • Reduced barriers to participation for schools with varying capacity 
  • Positioned CPRE Norfolk as a supportive partner in environmental education 
  • Created a campaign that can be repeated and expanded annually

This project focused on reducing barriers for schools to engage with environmental initiatives, making participation flexible, achievable, and relevant to their existing priorities. 

Hebridean Whale & Dolphin Trust Campaign Concept Development

Making marine life feel closer through a public awareness campaign concept

Client / Sector: Hebridean Whale & Dolphin Trust / Environment & Charity

Summary
Developed a campaign concept to increase public awareness of whales and dolphins in UK waters, designed to make marine life feel more immediate, relevant, and emotionally engaging.

Challenge
Despite the presence of whales and dolphins around the UK, public awareness remains relatively low. The challenge was to create a campaign that could bridge this gap and make marine wildlife feel closer and more tangible to everyday audiences.

My Approach
Focused on shifting perception from “distant and abstract” to “present and real”.

  • Developed a central campaign idea based on proximity and surprise 
  • Explored visual storytelling to contrast everyday environments with marine life 
  • Designed messaging to spark curiosity and emotional connection 
  • Considered how the concept could translate across outdoor, digital, and social channels 
  • Ensured the campaign aligned with the Trust’s educational and conservation goals

CPRE Norfolk

Growing Engagement Through Strategic Communications

Client: CPRE Norfolk

Sector: Environmental Charity

Summary

I currently support CPRE Norfolk as Marketing Trustee, helping to raise the charity’s profile, strengthen communications and encourage more people to engage with its work to protect Norfolk’s countryside.

My role focuses on making CPRE Norfolk’s campaigns, projects and messages more visible, accessible and engaging for members, supporters, communities and partner organisations.

The Challenge

CPRE Norfolk works across a wide range of important countryside and environmental issues, from planning and landscape protection to sustainable energy, dark skies, biodiversity, rural communities and youth engagement.

The challenge is to communicate this work clearly and consistently, helping people understand why it matters and how they can get involved.

My Approach

I support a more joined-up and proactive approach to marketing and communications, helping CPRE Norfolk share its work in a way that feels clear, human and relevant.

This includes creating content, supporting campaigns, identifying opportunities for partnerships, improving visibility across digital channels and helping turn complex environmental issues into communications that people can connect with.

What I Do

  • Support the charity’s marketing and communications strategy
  • Create content for the website, newsletters and social media
  • Help promote campaigns, events and local environmental initiatives
  • Support partnership and community engagement opportunities
  • Help develop clearer messaging around CPRE Norfolk’s work and priorities
  • Contribute to ideas that grow awareness, membership and supporter engagement
  • Support the wider trustee team with communications planning and campaign activity

Ongoing Impact

This is an ongoing role that allows me to combine my passion for the natural world with my marketing experience.

Through my work with CPRE Norfolk, I help amplify the charity’s voice, support greater public engagement and encourage more people to care about the future of Norfolk’s countryside.


CPRE Norfolk’s work matters because the countryside is not just scenery - it supports wildlife, communities, wellbeing, food, farming, climate resilience and local identity.

My role is to help more people understand that connection and feel inspired to protect it.

Eagre News – Editorial & Community Engagement

Strengthening community engagement through editorial planning and storytelling

Client / Sector: Eagre News / Community Publication

Services: Editorial Strategy, Content Planning, Design Coordination, Community Engagement

Summary
Lead the development and production of a community magazine, shaping content, structure, and tone to create an engaging and accessible publication for local audiences.

Challenge
Create a publication that not only informs but actively engages the community, encouraging contributions while maintaining a consistent tone and structure across each edition.

My Approach
Focused on making the magazine feel relevant, inclusive, and enjoyable to read.

  • Introduced engaging features to encourage community participation (e.g. themed sections and contributions) 
  • Balanced informative content with lighter, more accessible storytelling 
  • Refined layout and structure to improve readability and flow 
  • Worked closely with contributors and stakeholders to maintain consistency 

What I Delivered

  • Editorial planning and content structure for each edition 
  • Development of new recurring features to increase engagement 
  • Coordination of content, layout, and production 
  • Ongoing refinement of tone and visual presentation
